Maryland Gang!!! 11-9-2020
Tuesday was transfers and I got transferred to Centerville. My new companion is Elder C who is from Arizona. I am also district leader again and they gave me a 2020 Chevy Equinox that had 800 miles when I got which I have been enjoying (especially because of the snow). My one gripe with it is that it does not have seat warmers but that is very much a first world problem so I'm not complaining. We live across from a mountain spring water filled well which is really fun and we have very pure water very close. Moving in took most of the day but later we had a lesson in person with some people preparing for baptism who we later found out were not in our area since we weren't sure where our exact boundaries are.
Wednesday we were invited to a Q&A with a small youth group which was a lot of fun. They had some really good questions for being 13-15 years old which I was pleasantly surprised. Overall it was really good and the spirit was very strong during parts of it.
Thursday all of the info on out phones like our exact boundaries updated so we could know what bishops are in our area and stuff like that. We had a bunch of lessons and we walked around our area a little and went to one of our buildings. While on the walk I discovered our area borders the DI which I had done service at a year ago when I was serving in Woods Cross my first area which was cool to connect those dots.
Friday we had Multidistrict Council which was really good. We talked about some ideas on how to find people to teach which is good because they answered some questions I had and because we aren't teaching very many people. Later our Zone Leaders came over and we went on a walk with them to get to know them better which was fun.
Saturday morning we went on walk because we knew it would rain later. While we were doing that, a dad called us over and asked us to share a message with him and his kids which was pretty fun that he called us over. After doing that, we left him with our number and told him to call us if he or anyone he knew needed service. We did a bunch of calling to set up lessons and while doing that, one of the people we called asked us for some help so we drove over there and helped her cover some things with a huge tarp for the winter and put rocks to keep it down. Then we set up our calendar for the stake to schedule appointments on for us. After we got home we realized that Elder C had forgotten his bag at the church.
Sunday we went to two sacrament meetings and spoke in both of them. We talked about gratitude in both. It also snowed around 3 inches which made the mountains look a lot nicer. Light brown mountain doesn't look good. Green or white mountain looks really nice. We also were asked to make a video and we did some brainstorming and planning for that. In the evening we got a text from the zone leaders telling us to get on an emergency zoom call with the mission. Apparently there was an announcement by the Utah Governor of a 2 week ban on social gatherings mandatory mask mandate which was a bummer as that restricts our ability to gather as missionaries for meetings and other things.
Miracle of the Week: A couple weeks ago I looked at the list and pictures of incoming missionaries and saw someone from Maryland. Curious, I looked at the name and realized that I knew her. She had gone to my middle school and we had taken Geometry. On Wednesday we went to the mission office to get a sim card. When we got there, the new missionary orientation had just finished and I ran into her as well as Elder K which was fun as it was a little Maryland reunion.
Quote of the Week: "Don't go full Laman and Lemuel and complain about everything"
