A Disappointing Lack of Hoops 5-24-2021

For the past couple months, my companion and I have been playing basketball in the mornings. A couple weeks ago I sent a picture of the hoops taken off one of our buildings, we started going to the other one near us (because Utah be like that) and we showed up and they were refinishing the floor and our third building is about to get work done on it as well. Result: our mornings previously full of exercise have been boring as of late.

Tuesday we decided to switch around our schedule. Since the afternoons have been super hot and nobody is outside we decided to go on our walks in the morning before it gets hot and in the evening when the sun starts setting and things cool down. On one of our walks we met this guy who does wood working and he showed us his shop and some of the stuff he has made which was really cool. He does it was a side business but has had a hard time because of the pandemic.

Wednesday we had a really good meeting with our stake presidency and high councilor over missionary work about a document from the Area Presidency. We were super happy since the concerns we had were talked about and solutions were decided on and we are super excited to see things move forwards.

Thursday we had district council which was good. We also had device audits so I couldn't take notes. We talked about teaching skills and improving our teaching but aside from that I don't remember much else. We had a walk another one of our bishops and we visited a lady who's husband had just died and chatted with her. She was very thankful we stopped by.

Friday we had service weeding. While we were doing it, it started raining pretty hard so we went in and visited with the lady we were doing it for. We talked and got to know her and shared a message with her from the scriptures. She has had lots of health challenges recently and teared up as we talked with her. After it had slowed down raining so we went back outside and did more work weeding.

Saturday was pretty crazy. We had a neighborhood breakfast at 7:30 where we ate and got to know people there and played some spikeball. After that, we went on a walk with the bishop of that ward and helped him deliver some temple recommends and talked about people. Then we went to another walk with a Relief Society President and talked to her about her neighbors and got to know her since we had never met before. In the evening we went and helped set up for a baptism and got Nielsons Custard afterwards which was lots of fun and tasty.

Sunday we went to our meetings. We ended up cancelling our walk with a bishop since it was thunderstorming. We went and helped out at a stake activity where we talked about Love, Invite, Share with the youth while roasting marshmallows and starbursts which was fun. At the end, the sprinklers came on and we had to run to safety and watch as the fires were doused by the sprinklers.

Miracle of the Week: On Tuesday we were going on a walk with one of our bishops and while we were walking around we saw the dad of some people we are trying to start teaching while he was outside. Though he isn't in the ward of the bishop we were with we were able to go and talk with him and have a good conversation and we should start teaching his sons this week which we are super excited about.

Quote of the Week: "She said she was vegetarian and we looked at each other and shook our heads"
