Volleyball In A Shirt, Tie, And Slacks 12/2/2019

Tuesday we had District Council and we had a discussion about how to study effectively. After that, we went to the bike shop to pick up my bike but it wasn't fixed even though they told me it would be done on monday :(. We then had one of the most Utah Missionary Problem moments imaginable. We went to Panda Express because we had way too much food money and we got our food and someone came and paid for us without telling us. It was like you've go to be kidding me. Later we had a discussion after dinner with a family that started off talking about the Restoration and ended up talking about how we can do everything God commands. One of the new changes in the handbook is that we have longer messages after dinner. The longer discussions definitely gives the Spirit a chance to give people the messages they need. We had a lesson with R where we read about the story of Alma the Younger's conversion.

Wednesday morning my nose was bleeding a ton which was reminiscent of my childhood (referring to nosebleeds being my defense against my brother punching me frequently in the face). We helped out in the food pantry later. Something funny that happened that evening was we went to visit someone and we definitely went to the wrong house and called the lady who answered the wrong name. Oh well. I don't enjoy banana pudding. We then went to the Branch activity where we went and delivered pies and invited people to the Branch Christmas Party. We had R get some practice knocking on doors :P.

Thanksgiving morning we woke up and there was almost 10 inches of snow on the ground so we went and shoveled the G's driveway. Sister G came out to get the newspaper and freaked when she saw us. After we finished theirs we went and shoveled M'sdriveway as well. When we were there Elder G came our and called us idiots and told us we wasted our time to shovel his driveway because their Grandson was home. It was pretty funny. Later we went and visited with C who is the brother of I which was fun. We then went to the Church so I could call home. After there was a tongan party with food and volleyball in the gym. I played volleyball despite being all dressed up in my nice clothes and had a blast. Dinner was funny because they had forgotten they were feeding us until we texted and so we had leftover thanksgiving food. I had turkey for thanksgiving for the first time that I can remember (my sister doesn't like turkey so we usually had ham).

Friday we went to the DI and then picked up my bike from the shop. Later we went shoveling snow again because it had snowed 6ish inches which was fun. That evening we went to the Temple with R and did baptisms.

Saturday we visited a referral that we got from the YSA sisters (shout out to Sister K and H). When we got there they said the person didn't live there. We later found out that they weren't sure the exact name of the person we were visiting so we are going back in a couple days. To be continued... We also visited a part member family and they had a big cribbage board on their kitchen table. We will be going back there soon.

Sunday we went to 2 testimony meetings. It was interesting because they had 2 different themes that were talked about a lot. One was about ministering to our neighbors around us and the other was eternal families. During the second one, a memory came to me of another testimony meeting. It was after Youth Confrence last year (a youth retreat). After a long and spiritual testimony meeting, the person conducting got up and said that our Stake President felt impressed that 2 more people needed to come up. After that, a young man got up who I had heard lots of rumors (that I have no idea the truthfulness of) about him doing bad things. He got up and commented that lots of people had talked about the powerful Spirit that people had felt during the conference. He then said that he didn't feel any of that but that he wanted to. When I remembered this, I remembered Alma 32:27 that says "even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe". Having a desire to change is the important first step in becoming more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Miracle of the Week: we had a lesson with RW about following the prophet. It was full of miracles because prophets was something that Brother B didn't really understand. One was that Elder W pulled our a scripture at the perfect time that was really helpful in addressing his concern.

This weeks random sentence is about a food I had this week.

Quote of the week: "It is a sin to leave a Tongan party without any food"

Pictures (hopefully in order):
