I'll be home for Christmas, only in my dreams 12/30/2019
there. Later, in the afternoon, we went back and played blackjack for a while (not for money of course). Then we visited W and her mom for a while. Later, we went a member's house and wrapped our presents and ding dong ditched people with them which was a blast before coming back and stuffing ourselves with homemade taquitos which were delicious. Later we played pictionary, throw the ring on the reindeer, and hot potato where the consequence for losing was getting an accessory to wear. I got second in that.
Christmas!! We opened presents! Thanks to everyone who sent
me a card or anything else! After we played monopoly with another set of elders
before going to a members (the same one as yesterday) and having some amazing
homemade tamales. Then we went to another members and played games with them
till we had a district activity where we played "Bang" for a couple
hours.
Thursday we had district council. A highlight from it was
the difference between unwinding and unraveling in our free time. Unwinding is
controlled and can be undone while unraveling us out of control and is hard to
undo. When we relax or take a break, we need to to unwind not unravel. We
visited W, D and D and talked to them about how their Christmas
was and blessings that they had received. Then we went and visited W and
gave her a priesthood blessing because she wasn't feeling well. When we
finished the blessing, she was in tears and there was a peaceful spirit there.
Friday we went and helped T build his DVD shelf as well
as another shelf for storage in his shop. We then ate lunch and then installed
a backup camera in his van.
Saturday I learned how wonderful hot chocolate is. It was
pretty cold out and we were knocking on doors and a lady wasn't interested but
gave us hot chocolate. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire are lame compared to
tamales. When I was drinking it, feeling came back to my arms and lets and I
had a huge burst of energy to keep going. It was a tender mercy of the Lord.
You still can't convince me hot chocolate is better than ice cream but I do
appreciate hot chocolate more now.
Sunday we had our 3 churches. My companion and I spoke in
the 3rd one. The senior couple in our area spoke on the Book of Mormon just
like we did except for they spoke in the 2nd one which I found funny. That
evening our dinner appointment turned into a 4 hour event. It was with a family
of a recent convert and we just kept talking about things and they kept having
questions. Eventually they put in a DVD of the other side of heaven 2 but it
turned out that it was mislabeled and was the Book of Mormon videos and it was
the exact one that we wanted to watch with them and so we talked about that
with them.
Miracle of the Week: I have never spoken in church for
longer than 5 minutes. Before I spoke, I prayed that I would be able to speak
what the Spirit told me to. I ended up speaking for almost 25 minutes and had
to cut some things out so I could give time for my companion to speak.
The random sentence of the week has to do with a popular
Christmas song.
Quote of the Week: "I didn't realize that she was
pregnant until she said her baby was due any day now"
Pictures (hopefully in order):
1. Cookie decorating
2. The penalties of Hot Potato
3. A horse or course!
