Woody!! 12/16/2019
Tuesday morning we went to the senior center again and set
up more Christmas decorations. There was glitter everywhere which was awful
(glitter is of the devil). Afterwards, a senior couple picked us up and we had
a correlation meeting with them over lunch. I realized that the guy that told
the cheese-it story last week looks a lot like Woody from Psych. They look very
similar and they are both hilarious. We then had a lesson with D about the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. After that, we went and played volleyball which was a
blast.
On Wednesday we went to the mission office and rehearsed our
musical presentation for zone conference. That took up most of the day. That
evening we had another Christmas Party and I sat on Santa's lap.
Zone Conference! We were at the mission office for zone
conference from 8am to 4pm. It was intense. Elder Funk of the 70 and his wife
were there. President Call said something that stuck out to me. He said that
the consequence of serving God is receiving power to make more of our lives
that we can do ourselves. When we are obedient, we have power. Obedience=Power.
After that, we had a lesson with D where we finished the Plan of
Salvation. Towards the end of the lesson he tells us that he was having a bad
day but when we came in he was happy. That put a big smile on my face. We told
him that it was the Spirit bearing testimony to him. Later we went and visited
another guy who gave us some homemade fudge and caramel. I'm crackers about
cheese. Then we went to an appointment where the guy opened the door and said
"this is the wrong day, it's not Thursday". We thought he was messing
with us so we stood there. Eventually he figured out that it was indeed
Thursday but we rescheduled with him.
Friday we went and helped a member fix his TV sound system
by trouble shooting his headphones that he connects. We eventually figured out
by process of elimination that the extension cord was the problem. After we
helped out with his shelf some more and did some sanding. During
planning, Elder S knitted a beanie but ran out of yarn so it looks more
like a hot pad. For dinner, we went to an amazing Korean restaurant and I got
some excellent Curry Udon. After, we went to another Christmas party.
Saturday was crazy so here are some highlights. We walked
like we were pioneer children. Elder S trainer came with his
girlfriend and picked us up and took us to Fiiz and that was a good time. We
went to a Spanish ward Christmas party and had some excellent barbacoa tacos.
Sunday we went to 3 churches and went around and shared
Christmas message with a bunch of people.
This weeks random sentence is from Wallace and Gromit and
the Curse of the Were-rabbit. Correct me if I am wrong though.
Miracle of the Week: We were not teaching anyone in one of
the wards and we told the Ward Mission Leader that we would have someone we
were teaching in his ward the next time we saw him. The night before we saw him
again, we were wandering around his ward talking to people and we went to
someone that used to be taught and talked to him. Apparently he had been reading
a little bit of the Book of Mormon and we set up a time where we could come
back and talk more with him.
Quote of the week: ""Ever since my husband had a
stroke, I can't pronounce words right. Maybe I had a sympathy stroke."
