The Temple 1/7/2020
go to the temple today. We will go back to mondays next week.
Tuesday was New Years Eve and we went and helped a guy with
his water mattress. It had popped and the water had drained out leaving it
partially filled with some gel. That made it super hard to grab on to it
easily. We went and took it to the dump and went out to lunch. For lunch I was
able to taste some Unagi (eel) which was pretty good. In the evening we had a
district activity because it was New Years eve so we went and played a bunch of
games for a while.
Wednesday we had the morning off so I took a nap and played
some monopoly with some other elders. From there it went downhill. We knocked
on doors for a while with no success. It snowed, melted, then froze leaving the
sidewalks and driveways like ice rinks so we were slipping and falling a bunch.
In the evening we went to a member for a ride home and they gave us some
homemade bread and we did a puzzle before going home.
Thursday was a blast. We had district council in the morning
where we talked about answering concerns using the Book of Mormon. We also went
to a senior center and played black jack. I won a lot of "money" but
lost it all because I went all in because we had to go. Then we knocked on
doors and met some fun people. One lady told us that Elder S and I
could make a law firm out of our last names.
Friday we contacted a referral from Washington and was
finally able to meet him. He is super nice and we gave him a book of mormon and
told him we would come back. During lunch, Elder V and his companion came
over and we set goals for the month. Then we went to the senior center and
played more black jack. It was supposed to be Dominoes but they revolted and
did black jack instead. Then we went and knocked doors on a street that the
bishop told us to and we met some people. There was a guy that had just
finished fixing up his house. Thanks to my mom watching lots of house flipping
shows, I understood a lot of what he was talking about and was able to
compliment his work. We also met a nice Lutheran lady and we talked about the
restoration and gave her a book of mormon.
Saturday I didn't write in my journal (oops). We went to a
senior center and Elder V played the piano and we sang for them. WE did some
Queen, Billy Joel and some hymns. We also met this awesome guy named J and
he accepted a book of mormon.
Sunday we only went to 2 churches. Before you say i'm going
inactive on my mission, we had a correlation meeting with a missionary council.
One highlight of church was an ex-baptist preacher bore his testimony and it
was really awesome. We also went by this guy who used to be taught and talked
about how he was doing.
Monday I went on exchanges with Elder S. He is hilarious
and we found out we were similar in a bunch of ways. In the morning we went and
did service at a senior center. Then we knocked some doors for a bit. I had
Costa Vida for the first time and my verdict is that Cafe Rio is better. If you
really want to know why, you can email and ask. After dinner, we had a lesson
with D, D, and W and we talked about reading the scriptures. Then
we went to Brother G and talked about Testimonies and how in the church,
every contribution is needed for the church to function.
Miracle of the Week: C decided he wanted to be
baptized!!! We had been praying for him to have that desire and finally after
we went over and had a lesson with him and his family, his mom told us that he
had something we wanted to tell us. He told us that he wanted to be baptized
and we were super excited. His mom wanted to wait until he wanted to be
baptized and now he does!
Quote of the Week: "The best part of Utah is having
members everywhere. The worst part of Utah is having members everywhere"
