My dad would be proud 3-16-2020


This week was a disaster as far as me writing in my journal so i'm going off of what I remember for the most part (sorry).

Tuesday we had Zone Conference. It was really good. We talked a lot about talking to everyone as well as how to improve our teaching skills. Later, we had a lesson with J where after 4 separate invitations to be baptized, she finally accepted! 

Wednesday we did service with T. We helped put trim on a book shelf with a nail gun as well as some other stuff. We visited some people and some lady was not happy to see us. It was pretty funny. After dinner we went to visit someone and he came out with his dad and his dad was like my son is too embarrassed to tell you but he doesn't want to be taught. We were like why didn't you tell us that earlier so we don't keep coming by? Oh well.

Thursday Elder K came to my area for exchanges and we had a blast. That being said, the only person that was home that we visited was literally the last person that we visited. Also, for those who don't know, whenever you go on exchanges, weird things happen. The weird thing on Thursday was church literally being cancelled. I wasn't taking the Coronavirus seriously until they cancelled church. Oh well. The people we did visit, we chatted with them for a while because they were making food. After that, we shared Ask of God with them before heading home.

Friday we didn't go out very much as we tried to find things to do inside. We were told that we would receive additional instructions from our mission president at 4. After dinner (6ish), still nothing so we went around and visited some people. We were going to visit someone and as we were figuring out where they lived a member offered us a ride. When we told them who we going to visit, they said that they would be surprised if we had a 5 minute chat at the door. When we got there the lady told us to come around back and they were having a BBQ so we got her number and are going back.

Saturday we stayed inside most of the day waiting for instructions from our mission president. I think we tried to visit some people but my memory is giving me nothing. Saturday night we and email with instructions on how we are to work. Long story short, we are supposed to work with members and online only.

Sunday was test day for this. We spent most of the day brainstorming ideas on how to do things. It certainly was weird not having church. I think that was the first time that I have missed church in around 10 years (don't quote me on that). When we had dinner with a with a ward mission leader, we had sacrament there and talked to him about missionary work in the ward.

Miracle of the Week: We got toilet paper from a member! We wanted to give some pamphlets to a member that is helping us teach a set of twins. When we got there, the twins and their mom were all there and we were able to give them the pamphlets and challenge them to read it together with their mom. After they left, the member that is helping us said that they were there only for 10min and we "happened" to have went by at that time.

 Today is crazy with transfers so short email this week. Happy memorial day! Thank you to all those who have served, are serving, and will serve to allow us the freedoms we have today! The highlight of the week was definitely Thursday so that's what you get. It started off with District Council and interviews with President Call. One thing I brought to him were things that I am struggling with. As we talked more, he helped me realize that I am doing much better than I think I am and to keep trying. That was super nice to hear and realize. After District Council, we had a lesson with someone we are teaching that went super well. We read an account from the scriptures about Elijah hearing the Lord in a still small voice and talked to him about receiving answers to prayers. A Disappointing Lack of Hoops 5-24-2021

  For the past couple months, my companion and I have been playing basketball in the mornings. A couple weeks ago I sent a picture of the hoops taken off one of our buildings, we started going to the other one near us (because Utah be like that) and we showed up and they were refinishing the floor and our third building is about to get work done on it as well. Result: our mornings previously full of exercise have been boring as of late. Tuesday we decided to switch around our schedule. Since the afternoons have been super hot and nobody is outside we decided to go on our walks in the morning before it gets hot and in the evening when the sun starts setting and things cool down. On one of our walks we met this guy who does wood working and he showed us his shop and some of the stuff he has made which was really cool. Maryland Gang!!! 11-9-2020

  Tuesday was transfers and I got transferred to Centerville. My new companion is Elder C who is from Arizona. I am also district leader again and they gave me a 2020 Chevy Equinox that had 800 miles when I got which I have been enjoying (especially because of the snow). My one gripe with it is that it does not have seat warmers but that is very much a first world problem so I'm not complaining. We live across from a mountain spring water filled well which is really fun and we have very pure water very close. Moving in took most of the day but later we had a lesson in person with some people preparing for baptism who we later found out were not in our area since we weren't sure where our exact boundaries are. Wednesday we were invited to a Q&A with a small youth group which was a lot of fun. They had some really good questions for being 13-15 years old which I was pleasantly surprised.
