The Plague 2-24-2020

This week was somewhat of a disaster. My companion was sick most of the week and I got sick at the end. If I skip a day, assume we stayed inside the entire day.

Tuesday we stayed in all day beside a lesson with J where we talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was having a bad day but by the end, we got her to smile which was good.

Thursday was District Council so I called into it. I couldn't understand much but they did talk about the importance of teaching from the Scriptures and Preach My Gospel. In the evening I went on exchanges with Elder K to go teach C. We talked about the 10 commandments. The funny part was at the end, her mom was like from now on, I want you to lead the lessons from now on and she said my companion talked too much and didn't teach enough. I thought that was one of the funniest things I had ever heard.

Friday was my 6 month mark of my mission. We celebrated that by attempting to burn a tie and only partially succeeded.

One of the fun parts about being inside is that I had a lot of time to reflect on my life (all 18 years, I know). Looking around at the people I have come in contact with as well as at myself, I see something that is fairly consistent. When I have kept the Commandments and been focused on Jesus Christ, I have been happier and have avoided a lot of problems. I have a strong testimony of the words spoken by Alma the Prophet in the Book of Mormon to his son who was struggling to keep the Commandments. He told him that "wickedness never was happiness". Though we might not be always happy, we can be assured that if we obey, we will have the best possible outcome and I have seen that in myself as well as in the people I have taught. What it really boils down to is that God loves each of us perfectly and he gives us the commandments because he knows how they will help us and keep us safe. I know he does live us and that he lives. Not only that, Jesus lives and loves too. They are cheering on each of us and we journey through this life and are begging us to come to them and allow them to help us have everlasting joy.

Update: I am going to be training next transfer!

Miracle of the Week: I stayed healthy long enough to go to all the lessons that one of needed to be at. We had a lesson Saturday but Elder S (the senior missionary) was going to teach the lesson anyways and we didn't need to be there so that worked out with me getting sick around Friday night.

Quote of the Week: "A real friend stands between their friend and a horrible choice and says something"
