Buffalo But No Antelope - 7-27-2020
Tuesday morning we went and helped remove some fence posts that had rotted through and dug up and broke the concrete it was in. I got use a mini jackhammer for the first time which was interesting. We also had a family we are teaching order some Crumbl Cookies for us which was super nice of them.
Wednesday had two exciting things happen. First, we had a lesson with Elder F's former bishop. When we were talking we discovered that they had lived in my ward back home when I was 1 to about 3 years old which was pretty cool. Second, we were in a lesson with a member and they shared a scripture how Gods hand is always reached out to us to forgive us. All the sudden the scene from Madagascar popped into my head where Alex (the lion) is telling Marty (the zebra) "you bit the hand, Marty" saying since he hurt someone trying to help him, the help was retracted. Unlike Alex, God will never retract his hand from us. He is always ready to forgive and help us.
Nothing too exciting in Thursday. We did go to the mission office and Elder F passed his driving test so he can drive mission vehicles.
Friday was Pioneer day which is a big thing here with fireworks at night and everything. They moved part of our pday to friday so after we had district council in the morning, we got permission to go on a hike to Antelope Island which was a lot fun and it was really nice to be out. The name was misleading as we didn't see antelope but we did see buffalo. On the way back we got some ice cream before watching the fireworks.
We always seem to run into the same member of the Stake Presidency on Sundays at church. Which ever church we seem to go to, he is there which has been pretty funny. We also had a call with one of Elder F's friends where we talked about the Book of Mormon which was fun.
