Chick-fil-a And A Secret Mission 9-7-2020

Tuesday we had 2 lessons almost back to back with people who served as mission president and companion which was really awesome. In the evening we had a devotional with the youth of one of our wards. Unfortunately not many showed up but it went really well. We talked about recognizing the blessings in our lives from the Savior and His church and then sharing those so others can have those too. The spirit was strong and it was especially strong when we talked about Christ's suffering and about what He is able to do because of that suffering.

Wednesday was super hectic. We sold 2 bikes that my companion was getting rid of before he goes home, helped record part of a video, decided a day for K's baptism, bought ice cream, and I taught a lesson on an exchange. We taught K the Plan of Salvation and compared it to a special mission to earth and back to God again.

Friday we had Zone Conference which took up most of the day. We talked about the why of missionary work. President Call also shared with us some quotes he heard from one of the apostles in a mission president meeting last week. The cherry on top for Zone Conference was that they got us Chick-fil-a for dinner which was fantastic.

Saturday we had 2 service projects. One we went and painted a bench after sanding it down. In the evening we went and gathered up a bunch of leaves from a yard. During that the mosquitos came out and that was pretty brutal because it was dark and hard to see them to kill them as they landed on me.

Miracle of the Week: Friday evening I was talking to Elder W (my trainer) who is serving in one of my previous areas. He told me that one of the people that was super hard to get in contact with is getting  baptized in a little over a week. Whenever we were going to meet with them a bunch of obstacles would pop up but things have worked out. It was a miracle that her dad gave her permission to be baptized because he isn't a huge fan of the church. It was comforting to find out that all of my efforts that felt like I wasn't doing anything weren't wasted but that it just wasn't the right time yet and fortunately the right time was only a little after I left so I could hear about it.

Quote of the Week: "When obedience stops being an irritant and becomes our quest, heaven endows us with power"

  1. Our Zone Conferences are held in 2 sessions a day for different zones at 3 locations. The pre-covid sessions were all day at 3 locations and we fed the missionaries lunch and held car inspections. Now we give them a grab bag when they leave which means we get to stay all day to feed both sessions. The RS's used to handle the meals but that is now the mission's responsibility.
