We're Halfway There 8-24-2020
Tuesday morning we went and did service for a part-member family. We moved a bunch of their branches into a truck so they could be taken to the dump. After we had a lesson with them and talked about prayer and how we are told to pray always in the scriptures. We challenged them to pray together as the husband was going into surgery the next day. In the evening went and had popsicles and chatted with a girl and her mom and got to know them.
Wednesday morning we went and did service where we ripped out grass from a yard (not the one in the pictures below). While biking back went on Lagoon trail and we saw bison and elk which was exciting.
Thursday we had a lesson with a boy named K who is super awesome. He has a short attention span so we always have to keep things short and interactive. We talked about the 10 commandments with him and taught them using hand signs to represent each commandment. His mom loved it which was really great.
Friday we did service for the people had popsicles with on Tuesday and ripped out grass for them (see the pictures below) which was fairly satisfying. We also had District Council and it was good to meet everyone in the district and get to know each other a little better. I also hit my year mark on Friday! I have survived half of my mission which was a little weird especially because my parents moved today as well.
Saturday was a little slow. My companion did a lot of planning for college since he is going home soon and that took up most of the day. We also went to a park nearby and Elder V helped fix a guy's chain. He was pretty funny as he told us some conspiracy theories which I found highly amusing.
Sunday we were in church and other meetings till about 3pm. We had a super awesome lesson with a member family where we talked about the Atonement and how it relates to the Sabbath day and the Sacrament. Their testimony of those things was so powerful I think I ended up getting more out of it then they did which was awesome.
Miracle of the Week: Thursday I had a great study of the Book of Mormon. I had been having a really hard time focusing and not getting distracted the last couple weeks but I was able to sit down and focus which was great. When I finished I felt super happy and good about how I was doing overall. Studying the scriptures (especially the Book of Mormon)
Quote of the Week: "Whatever you do, don't take the vaccine"
