A Wizard Did It (Cue Gandalf Nodding Meme) 12-7-2020

We survived quarantine so far!

Tuesday we had a lesson with a family who are helping another family come back to church and hopefully we will be able to start teaching their whole family. We called all of our Ward Mission Leaders and told them we would be quarantined for 2 weeks as we had been exposed to another missionary with covid. We also watched a Christmas thing from the missionaries serving at Temple Square as they celebrated the start of the Christmas season with lights and music.

Wednesday we had Zone Conference over zoom which was really good. It was the best Zone Conference we have had in a while. We talked about lots of things but probably my favorite part was at the end when we discussed all together Matthew 11:28-30.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

There were some great insights shared and I learned a lot. One thing shared was that in order to take Christ's yoke upon us, we have to lay down our current yoke whatever it is and then learn of Christ and do as he does. We also had a cool thing that we didn't know happen till we heard the full story. A little bit ago we had a lesson with a family and their relatives that were in town. The husband of the other family had been deployed in the military unexpectedly and they had been having a hard time. They had come down from where they lived and had shown up not too long before we had our appointment. After we had the lesson and the kids went off to play, the wife told the family that she had been struggling to provide spiritual experience for her kids and because they had been inspired to invite them down they showed up and we were there over zoom to have a lesson with them.

When we sent in our goals for Thursday instead of saying we were taking a walk, we said that we were taking the ring to mordor. When we went on our walk, we took a ring and brought it to a mural close to our apartment and took pictures. This week we started doing a daily district study and talked about the scriptures and other things like that which has been super fun and uplifting. We had a lesson with J and we played Jeopardy to review with him things we have talked about.

Sunday we attended church at home which was pretty weird. The first time I have done that (and hopefully the last). We had a bunch of meetings and lessons. We had a lesson with a recently ordained Elder and talked with him and his wife about the types and shadows found in the Law of Moses that point towards Jesus and His Atonement which was fun. In the evening we watched the First Presidency Devotional which was really good. They talked about serving one another so we can give others "heavenly hugs" along with other great messages.

Miracle of the Week: No Covid symptoms as of Monday morning! We will get out of quarantine if that continues on Tuesday morning!

Quote of the Week: "He (Christ) came to make immortality a reality"

Pictures (hopefully in order):

1. Taking the Ring to Mordor (the closest we could find at least)

2. Basic missionary picture that everyone takes on front of the mural

3. At home church!
