Trying To Figure Out What's Going On 10-26-2020
Zone Conference was on Wednesday which was great as always. We had some great training on teaching with power and ideas for studying the Book of Mormon which was great as I finished the Book of Mormon a couple days after and started again in the way that was shared. Afterwards they had flu shots available and then gave us KFC which good. Especially since I didn't have to cook it. We also walked into our area and had a lesson with a couple who used to be missionaries serving in the mission office and who finished just before I arrived. They were super fun.
Thursday was pretty normal until the evening where one of our wards had a social distance Trunk or Treat. There were some creative ways of delivering the candy including launching it into the air and having them catching it.
Friday we had service in the morning with the couple that used to be missionaries. We helped them with landscaping as their house was pretty new. A couple days ago we were on walk and talked to someone outside and he turned out to be the grandpa for someone we are trying to teach which was pretty awesome and we had a lesson Friday with them and got to know them better.
Sunday
we had the stake reorganization meeting which we watched from home. None of our
wards got moved to the other stake but we will see what our temporary
arrangements are till transfers next week. There were some great testimonies
shared and messages given. One great one was about forgiveness. They asked us
to go and forgive someone, especially someone who probably doesn't deserve it.
Doing so is hard but is Christlike as He forgives us even when we probably
don't deserve it. We had a lesson with the sister and her husband of a member
we know. The problem was their English wasn't very good so my companion who
speaks decent Spanish had to talk the entire time as I just sat there barely
knowing what they were even talking about. I was doing pretty good for the
introductions and basic stuff but after that I was only faintly aware of what
they were talking about. It was better than the father in law who also came who speaks zero Spanish so we had to fill him in on what happened after. From what
I understood of the conversation it went pretty well but we are definitely going
to get the Spanish missionaries involved.
Quote of the Week: "The only time I spoke during the whole meeting was to briefly introduce myself"
