I'm Old 2-17-2020
I am going to hit my 6 month mark on Friday the 21st. It's
kinda crazy to think that I have been out for half a year. It definitely feels
nowhere close to that.
Tuesday Elder S had a doctors appointment so I was
with Elder C and U in a trio for the morning. We went to a lesson
and when we got there the lady that we were supposed to teach told us she got
the flu (just like everyone else in Utah) so we went over to a church building
and studied together. After Elder S got back, we had a lesson with
C and when we got there, she read us an 8 page summary of what she had
read in the Book of Mormon (she is 12). I was so shocked and impressed I didn't
know what to say or do. After dinner, we had a lesson with J. She had her
teeth worked on so we watched Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration with
her and her friends and then talked about it. Her friend T opened up and
talked about some experiences she had which was awesome because she had been
quiet and not super participatory before then.
Wednesday we had a meeting with Elder S (the
senior missionary) and talked about some ways that we teach kids using games.
In the evening we were invited to a Young Women's activity where they did
speed-finding where we had a minute to talk the other person and get to know
them. One of the questions they had ask was what we were most excited about for
Girls Camp. I was like what am I supposed to say to that. It was pretty funny.
Thursday we had district council and interviews with
President Call. Then we had a lesson with C and Elder S taught
his first lesson to a nonmember. It was a good experience for him and it went
pretty well.
Friday was Valentine's day which was kinda weird. Everything
was super slow and we didn't do much because nobody wanted to talk to us or
have lessons (I wonder why...).
Saturday C was baptized! The whole room packed. We set
up some chairs and when him mom saw it she said we needed to set more chairs
up. President and Sister Call came which was nice to see them. The rest of the
day was us going around to visit people and they weren't there.
Sunday we had our 3 church meetings like normal. At the last
one, I went and chatted with a lady who her son is serving in my old ward
currently. It was pretty cool. After, we had a lesson with A and her
brother (see the Miracle of the Week) using some games about Baptism and the
Gift of the Holy Ghost. After dinner, we went and set up a bunch of lessons and
visited J and B and they showed us a Tony Robbins video (they said my
parents would know who he was).
Miracle of the Week: We had dinner with this older couple
and they had their granddaughter named A over. At the end of the dinner,
they told us that they had invited the granddaughter over because she wanted to
be baptized and she had been going to church with them for over a year
straight.
Quote of the Week: "What is something that harms our
bodies? Rolling our eyes!"
