I Build A (Rock) Wall 5/18/2020

Tuesday not much happened. In the evening we had a lesson with J where we finished our game of Jeopardy! and had a great time. Wednesday we started our service project with an awesome couple. We were there 6ish hours helping them redo their backyard. In the evening, we joined a missionary themed youth night where missionaries serving from the ward were there and we had a Q&A before doing some role plays with them. Thursday we had District Council and we were able to have it in person for the first time in a couple months. The morning of, the Assistants to President Call asked me for the address so they could come. Then when we got there, the Sister Training Leaders showed up and then halfway through, the Zone leaders showed up but the Assistants never did. We talked about and practiced extending specific and direct invitations to people. Friday morning we had a lesson with a young couple and talked to them about the temple and a little of what goes on there. It...

Only A Couple Grease Fires Later... 5/11/2020

Tuesday was actually pretty eventful. In the morning, we had interviews with President Call. We had a good chat about some of the logistics of all the new missionaries coming in as well as other things. Then we had a lesson over the phone with D and L where we talked about some of the commandments. Later we had a couple zoom lessons with members before dinner. For dinner, I cooked steak for the first time (shout out to Noah for the marinade recipe and instructions) and it turned out amazing. We had a nice 1 and a half foot flare up while cooking it on our gas stove but all was well. In the evening we had a couple more lessons with members. Wednesday was fairly uneventful. We had some lessons with members and a meeting with a bishop. Thursday we had district council and talked about using technology to share to gospel with people. We also were able to have our fourth lesson with an 8 year old who is getting baptized on Saturday. We are teaching her 5 lessons in the 5 days ...

One Year Older But Still Not Wiser 5/4/2020

Tuesday was my 19th birthday! My first birthday while on my mission. It was a little weird but I had a good time. We had a lesson with 2 people over the phone in the morning which went well I think. I opened stuff and had some cake which was so blue that it stains my lips and tongue for the whole day after I have some. We then had other zoom lessons with other people later in the evening. Wednesday was fairly uneventful. In the evening we were invited to 2 different youth zoom meetings. One we had them teach us about the Plan of Salvation which was pretty fun. The other one, we hopped on and we talked with them about finding ways to serve others while inside and then talking about patience in God's timing and ways. Thursday we had District Council in the morning. One thing we talked about was how we could have our appointments with people hold better and have them be more effective. Friday we had a couple lessons with members and had our live facebook scripture st...

A Plethora of Interruptions 4/27/2020

To any missionaries on my email list that have gone home: Let me know if I need to change the email I send things to. Tuesday not much happened. One of the major highlights came while we were teaching a lesson. As the title of the email says, we were interrupted during a lesson by J and her friends. They made posters for us and gotten balloons (see pictures below). It was awesome to see her in person because we don't get to see many people and the posters were awesome. On Wednesday we had Zone Confrence over zoom. It was a little sad to not be there with everyone but it was still awesome. One thing that President Call said talked about stuck out to me. He talked about Joseph Smith and his experience in Liberty Jail found in D&C 121 and 122. In despair Joseph cries out "O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?". In response to his cries God responds "my son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine affli...

Tuesday morning we had a call with W and talked about Easter and why it is so important with her which was fun. She had some really good questions. J (the real way to spell it) was interviewed for her baptism today and passed! Wednesday  we had a lesson with A and reviewed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also had a bunch of meeting with Bishops and some Ward Mission Leaders. We also did another Facebook live and read Alma 7 which is one of my favorite chapters. Thursday we had District Council and the Zone Leaders and the Assistants joined it (my bosses and my boss's bosses) which was a little freaky but I think it went well. We also had a lesson with Ai today. She was being taught by missionaries in our new stake and so we set up a zoom meeting and got to know her and taught a quick lesson. Friday was a bit of a slow day. We set up some things for J's baptism and also had another Facebook live scripture study. We read from the New Testament and I didn't have ...
