Josh's Journey

Tuesday we went and visited V and chatted with her for a little before visiting some other people. In the evening we had a lesson with J with President Call where we talked about the Restoration. Then we ran and taught a boy also about the Restoration. Wednesday we had a lesson with C where we taught her the Restoration using Jenga and showed her the baptismal font. We then went by C and gave him a blessing because he wasn't feeling well.  Thursday we had district council and I gave a training which was a review of zone conference (which was what happened Wednesday last week). Then Elder Sh had an interview with President Call and I hung out and chatted with Sister Call for a while. In the evening we went visited with Annabelle and read some of the Book of Mormon with her. As we were leaving, her dad asked us if we could take his car and some money and buy him milk which I thought was the weirdest thing ever (which we declined). Friday we went to have a lesson with...

On Tuesday we went to a senior center and visited some of the people there. Later, we went and talked to V who was having a bad day. Hopefully we made it better. We were finally able to catch a family home (we have been going by for a couple months to talk to them) and talk to them which was good. At the end they let in their 3 enormous dogs loose inside and they all were super energetic and jumping all over us which was tragic to our nice clothes (RIP). Then we talked to a super chill guy who used to be taught and set up a time to come back. Then we had a short lesson with D, D, and W. Wednesday I didn't write in my journal so I have no idea what happened Thursday I went on exchanges with Elder K. I knew him a little bit from when I was down in Woods Cross but we spent the day together and it was a blast! We had a good time talking about nerdy stuff throughout the day. Tuesday morning Elder SH wasn't feeling well so I told him to go back to bed. Later he was feeling better so we went and visited some people. Our lesson with J cancelled which was disappointing. We then visited C and her husband came in and started trying to bash with us so we kinda sat there and just told him what we knew to be true. Oh well. Then we went and visited some people that one of our bishops asked us to and they were all not happy to see us (thanks bishop :P). We also talked to this lady and her daughter and she wants to be taught. Wednesday we went and visited someone in the the senior center then went and set up our new calendar. Then we had a lesson with C about the Plan of Salvation and then we ran and had a lesson with CH about baptism and the restoration. Afterwards, we went and helped some people move some couches in their house before dinner. After dinner, Elder SH wasn't feeling well so we stayed inside. Tuesday we went with T and we worked on his shelf and set up a sound system for his workshop. During lunch, the Layton Zone Leaders and our Zone Leaders both showed up 5 minutes apart which was weird. We were halfway to having all the zone leaders in the mission in our apartment at once. We then picked up our pinewood derby cars we made on P-day. Wednesday Elder S got transfered and I got my new companion. His name is Elder Sh and he is from Calgary. We did a big clean of our apartment and went and met with a bishop. Then we went and talked to some people he recommended we visit. We then talked to the councilors in the Stake Presidency as well as the high councilor over missionary work. Thursday we went and visited members of the branch presidency about the branch in a senior center nearby. Then we finished cleaning the apartment and I made cookies from cookie dough we got from a dinner we had with a member. We visited V and then went and talked to a ward mission leader....

This week was weird. We ran into a bunch of people this week who tried to tell us what we believed  which was kinda annoying. I don't try to tell you what you believe. We ask and try to understand where people are coming from and avoid making assumptions. Then people are like you believe this and that and I'm like um no. We don't. Check your facts before you try and tell someone what they believe. This week, make an extra effort to understand what other people think before you open your mouth. Thursday we had district council in the morning. On highlight was that we talked about the importance of the helping people to read and gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. That evening we talked to one of our bishops and helped support someone in his interview. Friday we went and helped T build more of his shelf. I am emailing today (fun fact: today isn't monday) because we had our P-day changed just so we can go to the temple today. We will go back to mondays next week. Tuesday was New Years Eve and we went and helped a guy with his water mattress. It had popped and the water had drained out leaving it partially filled with some gel. That made it super hard to grab on to it easily. We went and took it to the dump and went out to lunch. For lunch I was able to taste some Unagi (eel) which was pretty good. In the evening we had a district activity because it was New Years eve so we went and played a bunch of games for a while. Wednesday we had the morning off so I took a nap and played some monopoly with some other elders. From there it went downhill. We knocked on doors for a while with no success. It snowed, melted, then froze leaving the sidewalks and driveways like ice rinks so we were slipping and falling a bunch. In the evening we went to a member for a ride home and they ...
